Our Data Science graduates are trained from first principles in Computer Science and Mathematics. The two disciplines are blended seamlessly throughout your degree. You will study fundamental mathematical and statistical techniques alongside modern software development methods. You will have the opportunity to apply your learning immediately using real-world datasets in our cutting-edge computing laboratories. The Geology element of this course examines the Earth, its structure, formation, composition, history, processes, resources, hazards and materials. It looks at rocks, minerals and fossils, how they were formed, how they can be exploited as a resource, and what they can tell us about the history of the Earth. You will also study broader subjects such as geoscience and society, forensic geoscience and Earth systems. There is a strong emphasis on fieldwork and applied problem-solving laboratory classes in the course, with field courses both in the UK and overseas.
