The Economics for Smart Cities and Climate Policy Master’s Degree (ex-Smart Cities and Urban Policy Master) is a two-year program entirely taught in English. It is designed for highly qualified and internationally oriented students.This course will provide you with the economics know-how to navigate the current trends shaping 21st-century metropolitan economies. It involves applying economics quantitative methods to the study of new and transforming metropolitan areas and their competitive environments. This program in fact involves a strong involvement and interest for economics and econometrics applied to urban subject (Urban economic, Environmental and  Energy  Economics, Evaluation of Public policy, Econometrics,  Traffic and Transportation systems, Geographical Information System,  Big data,... )The teaching is firmly oriented towards the business world, and relies on a combination of economics theoretical methodology and real-world case studies. The ESCLiP Master’s Program has developed strong links with industrial and academic partners from various related fields, namely electricty, finance, energy, international organizations, transportation and ministries. Institutions and companies partnered with the Program include the City of Paris, EDF and SNCF, to name a few.

Entry in Year 1 : bachelor’s degree in economics, mathematics, civil engineering and/or transportation studies, or a French engineering degree (diplôme d'ingénieur).
Entry in Year 2 : master’s degree or M1 in economics, or a French engineering degree (diplôme d'ingénieur), with a background in quantitative economics.

The Bachelor of Science is a three-year program designed for students with a strong interest in Mathematics and Science. This highly selective and multidisciplinary program is taught entirely in English and leads to a double major in Mathematics and Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science or Mathematics and Economics, that allows students to develop strong knowledge and skills in either discipline.

Consistent with all of École Polytechnique’s academic programs, the Bachelor Program is designed for top students with very high potential, who are able to follow a rich and demanding curriculum.

Tuition fees
Tuition fees are currently €18,200 per academic year for non-EU students and €14,600 per academic year for EU and EEA students.

Scholarships and grants
There are merit-based and need based scholarships available for international students. Grants from École Polytechnique and the French government are also available, as well as other forms of financial aid, such as loans.

Entry requirements
Candidates are selected on their strong academic background, especially in mathematics and science. École Polytechnique also values exemplary, extensive achievement in any intellectual or creative endeavor. This includes accomplishments in extracurricular activities such as performing arts or athletics, scientific competitions, internships, leadership in your school or community, volunteering, etc.

To be able to apply, applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Currently be studying for a high school leaving certificate, recognized either internationally or in the candidate's home country (French Baccalaureate, OIB, International Baccalaureate, Swiss high-school maturité certificate, European high-school certificate…)
  • Currently be studying for a scientific university entrance certificate
  • Have already obtained an entrance certificate to study science at a higher education institution (scientific university, specialized institute, French preparatory class)

Consistent with all of École Polytechnique’s academic programs, the Bachelor Program is designed for top students with very high potential, who are able to follow a rich and demanding curriculum.

Applicants should also meet the following specific requirements:

  • Have an overall strong academic average
  • take advanced mathematics courses, and at least one advanced science course
  • Have a level of English sufficient to successfully complete this Program (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages level C1)

École Polytechnique Ingénieur Polytechnicien Program is a unique 4-year program: 3 years to obtain the Engineering degree and 1 year to obtain École Polytechnique’s Diploma. This 4-year curriculum provides students with:
