The vast majority of students at Central Connecticut State University - a public university in New Britain - come from within the state of Connecticut. In total, nearly 12,000 students are enrolled here - with roughly three-quarters of them studying at undergraduate level. Part of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities System (CSCU), it is the state’s oldest publicly funded university.
Originally founded in 1849 to train teachers, the most popular undergraduate degrees at the university are Business and Marketing, Social Sciences and Psychology, Education, Engineering, Communications, English, and Biology. Around 2,500 undergraduate students live in the university’s nine halls of residence, arranged around two quads.
