The BA (Hons) Creative Writing degree will provide you with the skills you need to become a practicing writer. You will learn how to write poems, stories, scripts, long form fiction and creative nonfiction using both traditional media and new technologies. As well as writing and editing your own work, this course will give you the opportunity to sharpen and develop your creative skills through textual analysis, class discussions and peer-to-peer workshopping. By reading and analysing a variety of texts, you will learn how to underpin your own work with relevant, contemporary theories. By reflecting upon your own writing, and that of others, you will learn to position your work in relation to social and cultural contexts.
