Read more specifications of a building. Architectural design is covered in an architectural engineering degree yet the design studios will always revolve around the building systems and engineering specifications of a building first and address architecture through elements of engineering. The degree is built around educating the student to specify all building systems adequately and then integrating all specified systems as a whole. HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, lighting, acoustics and all mechanical systems such as elevators and escalators are covered in distinct courses. The studio courses are where students are expected to bring all these systems together in well-formed projects. Practicing as an engineer with this degree is possible in both private and public sectors. It also allows for the formation of or participation in architectural businesses and projects. Students graduating in Architectural engineering will be well-qualified to enter the consulting engineering field in Architectural or closely related professions with an excellent understanding of the complete design-construction of buildings process, as well as many other fields such as facilities management, engineering management and sales. They may also choose to pursue graduate studies in a related field. Read less
