Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) is the only Government Technical University for Women in India established vide Delhi State Legislature Act 09, 2012. IGDTUW has evolved to become a national flagship, research-led university with a mission to foster an enviroment for excellence in professional education and ensure active participation of women in the field of Engineering, Science, Management and Technology, thereby attempting to strike out a fine balance between the world of work and personel life.
In IGDTUW the admission to undergraduate courses is through the prestigious score of All India Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and for the postgraduate it is primarily through the National Level Gaduate Appitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
In 2018, IGDTUW received Mrs. Rahatun Nesa Ali Memorial ISTE National Award for Best Women Engineering College of India, the Best Women Engineering College of India, to motivate the Women Engineers for the development of the Nation through Women Empowerment. It received a Notable Mention Award-2018 at AICTE Headquarters and has been ranked 162 in National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), MHRD all over India.
IGDTUW Anveshan Foundation, a Section 8 Company (Not for profit) under the Companies Act 2013, is an Entrepreneurship and Incubation center, which has twenty seven projects (in pre-incubation) and nine private limited companies as Incubatees. It received grant of INR 20 million from Directorate of Training and Technical education (DTTE), and has been recognized as 'Technical Business Incubator (TBI)' both vide Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. It has signed fruitful association with International Organizations as Nexus Incubation hub, GIZ and TiE etc.
IGDTUW has also adopted five villages of Delhi under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and is sensitive towards mother earth. It has stood ahead in lending a supporting hand towards conservation of restricted natural resources by implementing a Solar Panel System in the Campus thereby saving approximately 40% of electric consumption and also has provision of Rain Water Harvesting system and paper Recycling Unit.
IGDTUW has implemented ‘Atmospheric Pollution and Human Health in an Indian Megacity (APHH)’ a project of Ministry of Earth Sciences (MOES), Government of India and Natural Environment Research Council of the UK (NERC). It has signed MoUs with NASSCOM Foundation, NPTU Taiwan, Cyber Peace Foundation, EATON India Foundation and is the official Collaborator with University of York, University of Manchester, University of Lancaster, University of Birmingham and Centre of Ecology and Hydrology, U.K. In the project, the equipments of worth INR 300 million have been successfully installed in IGDTUW campus.
IGDTUW has received CURIE Grant (Consolidation of University Research for Innovation and Excellence in Women Universities) amounting to Rs 3.63 cores from Ministry of Science and Technology to facilitate an environment of research in the campus.
The University has a phenomenal placement record with maximum, minimum and average package of INR 4.15 million, 0.35 million and 1 million in top notch companies like Microsoft, Uber, Goldman Sachs, American Express, Walmart, Intuit, Netapp, Cisco, GE, Deutche Bank, Exxon Mobil, Nestle, Siemens, Accenture and many more.
