The university’s main campus is based in Lyngby in the northern suburbs of the country’s capital, Copenhagen – a location which boasts great natural beauty and is surrounded by wooded areas, sports fields, inner courtyards, as well as tranquil gardens.
12,899 students at the bachelor's and master's levels study at DTU. In addition, 1,453 PhD students are currently enrolled. DTU's campus has a truly distinctive international atmosphere: around 44% of the university's MSc students are international, and the university hosts exchange students from roughly 120 partner universities around the world. DTU emphasizes the possibility to go abroad at all levels of education, e.g. as exchange students or by studying a Joing International MSc programme.
The campus is a 25-minute bus ride away from Copenhagen, allowing students the opportunity to enjoy the cultural and historical sights of the vibrant European capital. With low crime rates, an efficient and free health care system, and bike lanes as a natural part of the infrastructure, Denmark presents a safe environment for students. Combined with the cultural emphasis on work-life balance, Denmark is considered as one of the happiest countries in the world.
When it comes to student accommodation at DTU, there are a number of options available: halls of residence, shared student housing, as well as private accommodation where you can rent a room in a normal family residence. International students at the BSc and MSc levels are offered guidance by the International Accommodation Office (Boligfonden DTU) either on- or off-campus. Please visit the International Accommodation Office's webiste for further information.
Prospective students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with DTU’s Student Guide for an overview of everything you need to know about studying at DTU and living in Denmark.
