This multidisciplinary program offers a possibility to gain a broad knowledge in both biotechnological processes and classical chemical engineering. Close collaboration of these disciplines is a special feature of the engineering departments at TU Hamburg in both education and research.
Apart from the basic knowledge in biological and biocatalytic processes, separation technologies, mechanical and reaction engineering, master students will get an insight into the most challenging problems on the boundaries between these disciplines and participate in the collaborative research of several departments.
The course is over 4 semester. Key qualifications like CAD, special aspects of mechanics or Marketing & Communication are spread over the first 3 semesters. Industrial internship is provided in Semester 2. A project thesis is a key element of Semester 3, while Semester 4 is reserved for the Master thesis. Around these special topics various lectures are arranged to fulfil the various specializations.
