This program is designed for students with a strong propensity for mathematics and computer science who are interested in building software systems with AI capabilities. Students master the methods and techniques required to develop the next generation of artificial intelligence and machine learning systems. They learn how to: build large software systems and reason about their correctness, security and efficiency; model, design and implement machine learning systems; and apply such systems to a range of application domains. The program teaches solid method-based knowledge that will remain relevant as technology advances. Students are also exposed to a practical approach, gaining the ability to design and build large software systems through project-based courses. Graduates will have immediately applicable real-world skills and a competitive profile, particularly if they choose to continue their studies with a PhD. Upon graduation, students will have the knowledge and skills to work as artificial intelligence specialists (intelligent system specialists or machine learning engineers) to build advanced systems used in manufacturing, the service sector, the public sector, finance, or the health and medical sciences.
