These changes have resulted in the enhancement of sciences and technologies, which are increasing demand for people who are knowledgeable in theoretical and applied mathematics. Because the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of the Faculty of Science and Technology recognizes this demand, the department has launched the Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics to enhance knowledge development capabilities and mathematics capabilities of doctor of philosophy students in line with international standards. Doctors of philosophy who complete this program can work as professors, researchers, scientists and consultants at academic or business institutions.

The qualifications of the applicants must be in accordance with the regulations of Thammasat University. on Graduate Studies, B.E. 2561, item 22-24, and have the following qualifications: Must be a graduate of a master's degree in mathematics or equivalent field, both locally or internationally, from an educational institution recognized by the University Council as accredited; Must have a cumulative grade point average at the master's degree level not less than 3.25; For those who lack the qualifications, the Graduate Studies Committee Mathematics (International Programs) may consider those with exceptional qualifications. By considering academic performance or other qualifications suitable for studying to be eligible to apply.

There are two types of lecture sessions: normal programs in office hours and special programs in the evenings or on weekends.

Students on master’s degree programs can pursue their own interests in research-oriented programs. Students are required to complete a “thesis” to contribute to a new body of knowledge or conduct a specialized study in their industries or careers.

The doctorate degree programs encourage students to conduct a “dissertation” research contributing to the country’s development and new technologies.
