Cranfield University welcomes applications from students from all over the world.  

There is strong competition for places on our courses so we recommend you apply as early as possible to secure your place. This is important if you also want to apply for on-campus accommodation or need a visa to study in the UK. These processes will take additional time after your course offer has been made.

Our unique facilities and large-scale test environments are used by our staff, students and clients for exceptional research.  

Cranfield is unique in the world as we have our own runway, our own airport, our own aircraft and pilots, our own fuel farm and our own air navigation service provider.  

The  Aerospace Integration Research Centre (AIRC), a £35 million innovative centre built in partnership with Airbus and Rolls-Royce, fosters collaboration between industry and academia. Cranfield’s £65 million Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre (DARTeC) is spearheading the UK’s research into digital aviation technology.  

Cranfield Impact Centre, based at the Cranfield campus, is one of just two FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile) approved test centres in the world, crash-testing Formula One cars.  

A £7 million investment in the latest forensic science technology created a new forensic science teaching and research facility at our Cranfield campus. Our Digital Investigation Unit, previously known as the Digital Forensics Unit and originally the Centre for Forensic Computing is one of the longest-established digital investigation units in the world.  

We have the Plant Phenotyping and Soil Health Facility – the world's first glasshouse to study plant-soil-water systems at a pilot scale under a multi-sensor gantry.

Student life

Cranfield campus is set in a scenic rural location with amenities including bars, shops, and a sports hall. Excellent leisure and shopping facilities can be found in Milton Keynes and the historic town of Bedford, just a short drive away. Cranfield campus is just 40 minutes from central London by train. 

Some of the Defence and Security courses are located at the Defence Academy at Shrivenham in Oxfordshire.

    Even before your course begins, as an offer holder from Cranfield, you can engage with the Careers and Employability Service in order to prepare for those early employment application deadlines. During your course, you will receive support and guidance to help you plan an effective strategy for your personal and professional development, whether you are looking to secure your first role, or are looking to take your career to the next level.  

    The Careers and Employability Service is an important part of the Student Experience support function. Our team has significant real-world experience in the areas of coaching, recruitment, human resources, and business development. We help students develop their personal career journey, so they can find meaningful employment that uses their Cranfield qualification. The  ‘Career Continuation Service’  offers lifelong support to alumni, meaning we are fully committed to assisting your career journey at Cranfield and beyond. The team is comprised of three distinct departments – coaching, employability, and employer engagement – which combined provide the following resources:
