Since establishment as a university in 1989, Dublin City University (DCU) has developed a global reputation for distinctive teaching, research and societal engagement. Through delivery of world-class education and research, DCU seeks to address challenges facing the world today and to develop the talent and knowledge that society needs. DCU is housed across three academic campuses, a sports campus and an innovation campus, situated just 15 minutes from Dublin City Centre.

DCU prepares rounded graduates who can contribute in the workplace and in society. Over 80% of Undergraduate students can avail of internships or study abroad experiences. This approach provides opportunities for our students to develop work-ready skills in addition to academic excellence.

Our student body consists of students from almost 120 countries; we are strong proponents of widening access to 3rd level education with representation from mature, distance learners, and non-traditional access groups. In 2012, we were the first university globally to adopt the Age Friendly University principles; in 2017, DCU was the first university in Ireland to be designated as a University of Sanctuary, in recognition of the range of supports established to aid the refugee and immigrant community in Ireland, and in 2018, DCU was the first university globally designated as an Autism Friendly University.

Dublin City University (DCU) is Ireland’s university of Enterprise. Situated on an 85 acre active and rewarding campus, which is full of student life, sports and leisure facilities, DCU has grown rapidly in scale and performance since being established as a university in 1989. With the city just a 10-minute bus drive away, students of DCU have the best of both worlds; the social and cultural benefits of city life, but with the security and vibrancy of a university campus built very much for today. DCU prides itself on delivering excellence across all of its activities.DCU, with a student population of almost 11,500 and close to 2,000 non-Irish students from 116 different countries, is recognised as centre of academic excellence in education and research. The university is young, vibrant and voted as Sunday Times University of the Year 2010. Unconventional by nature, DCU broke with the traditional mould and introduced new approaches into the Irish education system. With a focus on enterprise and a determination to hold the position as Ireland’s most innovative and market driven university, DCU has created a unique position for itself in Ireland. It promotes research and encourages entrepreneurship through a state of the art Innovation and Enterprise Centre- The Invent. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees of the highest international quality with interdisciplinary in nature and research opportunities in technology, engineering, business, communications, humanities, science and health, and study abroad placements. DCU offers International scholarship scheme to academically strong undergraduate and post graduate international students.The university has developed its own research specialisms and has created a number of national centres of excellence that have transcended traditional boundaries. These research facilities are amongst the best in Ireland, and the campus houses leading research centres in areas such as cellular biotechnology, neuro-therapeutics, chemical sensors and biosensors, plasma technology, biomedical diagnostics, machine translation, telecommunications and adaptive information technology. DCU aim’s to foster innovation and creativity and to elucidate the pathway to discovery through advanced teaching and research methodologies. The university seek to prepare next generation leaders, entrepreneurs and transformational thinkers through its Graduates Attributes Programme. DCU was the first university in Ireland to introduce paid work placements, INTRA, as an integral part of its degree programmes, giving students a special edge with Irish companies. DCU students are consistently among the highest number of employed graduates in Ireland. DCU ensures that each student who studies on its campus receives personalised attention and every opportunity to develop themselves academically, professionally and personally.
