The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. Our mission is to improve health worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice. Founded by Sir Patrick Manson, LSHTM began as the London School of Tropical Medicine in 1899 at the London Docks, and nineteen students formed the first intake admitted on 2 October 1899. LSHTM is now based in Bloomsbury, where it has two main sites at Keppel Street and Tavistock Place. Today, our staff, students and alumni work in government, academia, international agencies and health services across the world. This year, LSHTM celebrates 120 years of health innovation.
LSHTM delivers expert training to the next generation of global health leaders to strengthen systems and prevent outbreaks. All of these programmes are taught at postgraduate level and are taught by experts in their field. Students will receive rigorous training in a wide range of disciplines, which will equip them with the tools and advanced research skills they need to launch their public health career.
