Hi Syed, I'm afraid only bachelor and PhD studies in Germany are free of charge, but Germany's tuition fees are lower than some other countries. Hi Talha, master's degrees in Germany still charge tuition fees but often they are less than in some other European countries. The majority of programs will be taught in German, but many schools are now offering English-taught programs for some subjects. Hi there, our Study in Germany FAQ gives some guidelines of entry requirements at German universities which should help. You might also want to consider a prep course ('studienkollig') which normally lasts one year and prepares students for university education. LT

All bachelor degrees at public universities are free in Germany, although if you don't speak German, programs are a little harder to find. See this article for more details. LT :)

Hi Gulam, I'm afraid that master's degrees in Germany still aren't tuition free - particularly MBA programs which tend to be among the most expensive programs. Entry requirements also vary widely so you'll have to check each school's program details for this information. To find a list of leading universities in Germany within business you should check out our business subject rankings or, to view schools only in Munich (Bavaria) see our state-by-state guide. Hi there, you can find out whether a school charges an application fee by looking on their website but this is often only a nominal fee and not widespread. As for English-language proficiency, if English is also your first language you shouldn't have to provide test results. (For programs in German however, German-language proficiency will be needed) Good luck! L

From there you can then look at our article - Where Can You Study Abroad for Free? - which list free and cheap counries to study - mainly in Europe. Many other European countries also offer cheap tuition but they may not have as many universities featured within our world rankings.

Hi Dee, you can learn more about master's study in Germany with this article and find out more about costs/tuition fees here. Although we don't have a dedicated ranking for nursing/midwifery, you can find the top German universities for medicine here. Although not all the schools listed will offer nursing programs, chances are some will. Alternatively, you can look for more specialized schools online - although we don't have any information about these on TU. If you don't speak German, you'll also have the added difficulty of finding an English-taught program. More information on this can be found here.

Hi Andres, congrats on getting a German passport! You're right, this should make you eligible for at least some form of financial aid such as grants and scholarships - you may even be able to apply for a loan - such as from BAfog. My advice would be to first find a university that offers a reputed MBA program. At this level, more English language programs are available, but you'll have even more options if you speak German! Our sister site TopMBA.com has a definitive ranking of European business schools which you can use to find the names of reputed MBA providers or our subject rankings for business & management may also be helpful. From there, visit each school's official website, where there'll be information on funding and financial aid offered by the school and externally, as well as details about their MBA program.

These schools may also help you with your search for financial aid if you contact them directly. We also have an overview article on graduate funding worldwide.

Hi Chris, have you seen our article on Studying in Germany in English? It explains that English-led programs with free tuition are still few and far between, meaning that unless you're willing to study at a university of applied science or at a vocational school, you may have difficulty finding a program. Don't let that stop you searching though! (see the article for more info on how to find these programs).

Hi Jessica, the only QS ranked university in Leipzig is Universität Leipzig (289th in the world; 21st in Germany). If you speak German you're more likely to be able to study for four years, but check the school's official website to check. Laura :)

Hi Paul, we have a subject ranking of the top universities for earth & marine sciences as well as a ranking for environmental sciences which will be helpful to show you leading German universities in your field. Not all the schools listed will offer meteorology as its own program but perhaps a similar program will be offered that you're interested in.

If you opt for a master's degree, it's likely that you'll still have to pay tuition fees, so do check. Scholarships are available however so check school websites, government schemes and our FAQ for more information.

Hi Saiyad, if you can speak German you have a very good chance of getting admitted to a tuition-free university! I'd recommend that you use the offical DAAD website (as it is written in German language) and our subject rankings for computer science to find leading German universities in your field. Hi Leandro, it sounds as if your grades are more than enough to permit you, but your chances of admission will also heavily depend on the strength of your application - not just your grades but also your personal statement and resume. If you're still unsure, you should contact the school's admissions team before applying for advice.

Hi there, it's likely that you'll be restricted from entering a German university before completing a subject-restricted preparatory course, which takes one year of study and aims to prepare you for German higher education. This is due to the fact that German universities require students to hold a number of years of academic history before they're eligible to study. It's possible that you won't be able to work full time, but many students are permitted a restricted number of working hours, without a workpermit. L
