Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) constitute one of the most active research areas in developed countries. The University Carlos III of Madrid has been committed for years to a solid training offer in this field, both at the Bachelor's level and at the Master's and Doctorate levels. The Doctoral Program in Signal Processing and Communications Engineering pursues the training of Doctors in the ICT field, providing scientific and technical training of the highest level that allows them both to participate in competitive research teams and to lead innovation and development projects..
The research lines associated with the Program are focused on Signal and Data Processing, Multimedia Processing, Advanced Mobile Communications and High Frequency Technologies. A more detailed list of the research sublines associated with these main lines can be seen in the "Research" tab..
The main asset of our Program is its teaching staff. The doctors belonging to the Department of Signal Theory and Communications have extensive experience in cutting-edge R&D topics, as evidenced by dozens of competitive research projects and hundreds of publications in prestigious international journals.
Likewise, the Community of Madrid is one of the main industrial areas in Spain, an economic and competitive engine, and a great pole of attraction for R&D&i activity in ICT areas. Madrid is one of the European regions with the highest GDP per capita, it is the Spanish region that allocates the largest volume of resources to R&D&i activities (26.5% of the state total), it represents 36.7% of Spanish scientific production and concentrates 23.8% of the total Spanish employment in R&D&I. Countless ICT companies and their R&D departments have their headquarters in Madrid, and the Program's teaching staff maintain links and joint activity with many of them. In addition, the degree of internationalization of the Program is very high, as evidenced by the collaborations with numerous prestigious international R&D centers, stays and international exchanges and participation in international conferences and forums.
For all these reasons, the Doctoral Program in Signal Processing and Communications Engineering provides first-rate training for Doctors specializing in highly cutting-edge lines of ICT which, combined with the favorable conditions of the socioeconomic context, facilitates full employability of the graduates.

Universidad Carlos III de Madrid offers programs in Economics and Business, Engineering, Law, Communication, Social Sciences and Humanities. Most bachelor degrees in Engineering have been awarded the EUR-ACE quality certificate.

More than 71% of the degree courses offered can be taken either fully in English, or with option in English or with a bilingual option.

Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) offers 159 master programs and 20 doctoral programs in the varying fields of investigative research ongoing at the University. Over 40% are taught in English. 

The programs are organized into four Schools, encompassing the areas of Law; Business and Economics; Humanities, Communication and Social Sciences; and Engineering and Basis Sciences. The Madrid-Puerta de Toledo Campus, home to the bulk of the master programs, is located in the cultural and historic heart of Madrid, one of Europe’s great capital cities.  

A total of 27.3% of the students enrolled in the master programs hail from other countries, drawn by the prospect of pursuing studies in English at an international campus in Madrid.  Among doctoral candidates, the percentage of international students reaches 44.8%.
