Bachelor's Program in Teaching Arabic to Non-native Speakers

The Arabic Language Institute was one of the centers affiliated with the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at King Abdulaziz University in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and it had one department, the Arabic Language Teaching Department. Then the noble Royal Decree No. 7/J/52127 was issued, dated 11/30/1399 AH, to transform the center into an institute. It has an independent deanship, then a decision was issued by the Supreme Council of King Abdulaziz University at its twenty-eighth meeting held on 4/18/1401 AH (before the establishment of Umm Al-Qura University) including the approval of the Supreme Council for the establishment of the institute with its scientific departments according to the formula attached to the decision, and the department is one of the departments referred to.. Then Royal Order No. M/39 was issued on 9/28/1401 AH, which refers to Cabinet Resolution No. 190 on 9/19/1401 AH approving the system of Umm Al-Qura University, which includes the institute and its departments, including the specialization department.
The duration of study was three years; Two years for the general diploma, and one year for the special diploma. In the year 1407 AH, the equivalency of the bachelor’s diploma was approved at the fourth session of the Umm Al-Qura University Council held that year. When study at the university was transformed in the year 1412 AH to the level system, study in the department became a period of four years.
