Ural Federal University (UrFU) is one of the leading and largest universities of Russia, established in 1920. The university is located in Ekaterinburg — the 4th largest city in Russia with a population of 1.5 million, the capital of 2023 FISU World University Games. Ekaterinburg is a major economic, industrial, scientific and cultural hub on the border between Europe and Asia.

Ural Federal University is the project office of the world-class Ural Interregional Research and Education Center (UIREC) "Advanced Industrial Technologies and Materials" aimed at successful completion of the “Science” National Project. UrFU is a federal innovation platform bringing together fundamental education and innovative approach and is continuously improving its position on the world stage. 

Ural Federal University offers more than 460 Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral (PhD) degree programs in natural sciences, engineering, social sciences and humanities in Russian and English. Currently the university is home to 36 000+ students, among them there are 4 400+ international students from 101 countries of the world. There are more than 4 500 faculty members, including top-notch Russian and foreign experts. 

Among UrFU Honorary Doctors there are the President of Germany F.-W. Steinmeier, the President of Czech Republic M. Zeman, the 1st President of Kazakhstan N. The Russian university Ural Federal University offers around 200 Master’s and over 100 Doctoral (PhD) degree programs in English and Russian. Modern research infrastructure with 164 research labs includes 12 laboratories headed by leading international researches: Dr. Jean Jouzel, Nobel prize co-winner – head of Climate and Environmental Physics Laboratory; Rolf Zinkernagel, Nobel prize winner – co-head of Experimental Immunophysiology & Immunochemistry Key Center of Excellence.   UrFU offers to its students academic mobility programs abroad and internships in Russian and international partner companies. Tuition fees for foreign citizens range from $2700 to $4100 a year. UrFU also offers a discount up to 30% for applicants who earn 40 and more points at the entrance test and Russian Government Scholarship opportunities for international students.
