About The University of World Economy and Diplomacy
The University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan offers a wide range of academic programmes at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels. It has three schools: International Relations, International Economics and Management, and International Law – supported by 11 departments, including International Relations, World Economy, and Foreign Languages. The academic staff consists of over 200 members, including 19 Doctors of Science and 54 Candidates of Science, with a student number of approximately 3,800.
The curriculum integrates theoretical knowledge with practical skills, encourages independent analytical thinking and develops professional qualities. UWED distinguishes itself by incorporating modern teaching technologies and innovative methodologies. Academic programmes benefit from partnerships with international universities and visiting/online lecturers/seminars from countries such as the UK, Germany, Japan, China and Republic of Korea, providing students with valuable global insights.
UWED is actively engaged in research. It hosts global events, including those related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It facilitates student exchanges and international study, working with more than 90 universities in Europe, Asia and North America that participate in the Erasmus+ programme.
Students also benefit from a vibrant campus life with internships, practical experiences and extracurricular activities that prepare them for careers in government, international organisations and multinational companies. UWED's structure includes the Diplomatic Academy, Institute for Advanced International Studies, Faculty of Executive Education, Language Training Centre, Information Resource Centre and Academic Lyceum.
