One of the hallmarks of the University of Opole is its well-balanced mix of pure and applied research, the university has also well-developed ties with business, industry and public administration, resulting in pioneering model of cooperation of academic and non-academic stakeholders for the benefit of the Opole region.
The University of Opole maintains strong research links with numerous institutions in Poland and abroad. The University of Opole hosts a UNESCO Chair on Cultural Property Law and supervises a palaeontological excavation site in Krasiejów, which is considered to be one of the most valuable sites in the world. A sensational discovery was made there of Triassic proto-dinosaurs.
