Politics is the study of the way power and influence are distributed within society and how this affects decision making within and among countries and states. You will study a wide variety of topics including courses in international relations, political theory and British politics. You will have the opportunity to take part in our growing study abroad programme. Studying Politics will prepare you for a wide variety of careers. You will develop your research and analytical skills, writing abilities, and capacity to communicate effectively. You will be able to attend employability workshops and training days, which will provide you with skills and knowledge, essential for success in the job market. The University’s undergraduate honours degrees in the College of Arts, College of Social Sciences, College of Science & Engineering and College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences offer the flexibility to study several subjects before choosing a specialism. 


The wide range of subject choices and combinations make it easy to find a degree programme to match most interests. The subject(s) chosen determine the type of degree programme you will take and for how long you will study, but most standard flexible degree programme structures last four years.
The moment you start your studies, you will be taught by dedicated and passionate academics in a flexible and innovative learning environment.
