Técnica de Manabí is a public higher education institution, constituted as an
academic community by Legislative Decree issued on October 29 th ,
1952, begins its academic activities on June 25 th , 1954, with
headquarters in the city of Portoviejo, and extensions in the cantons of Sucre,
Chone and Santa Ana, in the province of Manabí.
Universidad
Técnica de Manabí began its institutional activities on June 25th,
1954, for this reason it is established as "Day of the Universidad Técnica
de Manabí" on June 25th, a commemorative date on which the
Solemn Session of Anniversary is held.
We are an
institution with academic, administrative, financial and organizational
autonomy.
Our main
objective is to comprehensively produce contributing members of society, so
that they contribute to the development of the country and the achievement of
social justice.
At present we
have 14 faculties and 3 institutes that provide higher academic education and
we carry out teaching, research and society engagement, in accordance with the
objectives of the Development Regime and the principles established in the
Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador, The Organic Law of Higher Education
and its regulations, other related laws, issued for the organization of the institution.
We currently
offer 52 degree courses, under in-person, hybrid, and online modalities; and 72
postgraduate programs under in-person, blended, hybrid and online modalities.
We have a
student population of 29,302 undergraduate students and 2,798 postgraduate
students. Our teaching staff is made up of 1,097; 688 are regular professors and
409 contracted professors.
Our
institutional vision is framed in: "Being a benchmark for higher education
in Ecuador, promoting the creation and dissemination of science, technological
development and culture, with social recognition, national and international
projection."
Our mission is:
"To form responsible, humanistic, ethical, supportive, competitive and
enterprising academics and professionals, committed to national development who
contribute to the solution of the problems of Manabí and the country, capable
of promoting the promotion and dissemination of science and culture for the
benefit of society.
In the exercise
of our principles, we assure all the actors of the Higher Education System the
same possibilities in access, permanence, mobility and graduation from the
system, without discrimination of nationality, gender, creed, sexual
orientation, ethnicity, culture, political preference, socio-economic condition
or disability.
Within our
facilities we promote inclusive access for people with disabilities under
quality conditions, relevance and regulations contemplated in the Organic Law
of Higher Education and its regulations.
Our
institutional principles are based on responsible autonomy, co-government,
equal opportunities, quality, relevance, integrity and self-determination for
the production of knowledge within the framework of the dialogue of knowledge,
universal thought and global scientific and technological production;
We are a secular
and democratic entity, which guarantees freedom of thought and expression, both
in the exercise of the professorship and academic activities, research, links
with society and administrative management;
We are open to
collaboration with national and international organizations through agreements,
strategic alliances and exchanges of academic, cultural, scientific and
technological nature, we develop research linked to regional, national and
international requirements;

been dedicated to the constant and systematic search for excellence and
relevance through self-criticism, external criticism and permanent improvement.
