Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar - Ecuador

The Universidad Andina Simon Bolivar was established by the Andean Parliament and is part of the Andean Integration system. Its fundamental purpose is to create a space for reflexion about Andean Latin America, its history, culture, scientific and technological development, its process of integration and the impact the Andean Sub Region may have on Latin America and the world. The university conducts research, teaching and the provision of services for the generation and transmission of scientific and technological knowledge. Its academic focus is at the graduate level offering master, doctoral degrees and specialized studies diplomas. Currently, the university has the largest offering of graduate programs in Ecuador, in particular, doctoral programs are open to international competition which demands high academic performance, and involve wide international cooperation and exchange programs for professors and students from the Andean Sub Region, Latin America, North America and Europe.The UASB, Ecuador Headquarters, was founded in 1992 and it is the centre for advanced studies with the broadest range of scholarship programs and financial support in the country. The programs are financed with national resources and through international cooperation.The University’s top priority is specialized research. It promotes comparative and multinational studies through projects that are systematically carried out by both teachers and students. It also supports other research activities through projects carried out in partnership with other institutions.The UASB is number one among all academic institutions in Ecuador with regard to the amount of their publications. Thanks to an explicit publishing policy that encourages research and publications, UASB has published more than 520 books and print magazines during its 18 yeas of existence. The “Magister” Series with more than 100 titles publishes and disseminates outstanding master student theses. Su ámbito docente específico es el posgrado, en la modalidad de doctorado, maestría y especialización superior. Actualmente, tiene la mayor oferta de posgrados en Ecuador, especialmente de doctorados de convocatoria internacional, con un alto rendimiento académico, amplia cooperación internacional e intercambio de profesores y estudiantes de la Subregión Andina, América Latina, Norteamérica y Europa.La UASB, Sede Ecuador, se estableció en 1992 y es el centro de estudios avanzados con los más amplios programas de becas y apoyo financiero del país, financiados con fondos nacionales y de la cooperación internacional.La Universidad prioriza la investigación especializada. Promueve proyectos de tipo comparativo y multinacional que realizan sistemáticamente sus docentes y estudiantes. Además, apoya tareas investigativas a través de proyectos conjuntos con otras instituciones.La UASB es la institución académica del Ecuador que más publica. Gracias a una política de promoción editorial, ha superado los 520 libros y revistas impresas en sus 18 años de vida. La Serie Magíster, con más 100 títulos, difunde las tesis más destacadas de estudiantes de maestría. Las cuatro revistas indexadas que publica han alcanzado un total de 75 números.
