Titu Maiorescu University of Bucharest (TMU) is a private, non-profit university founded in Romania in 1990. Bringing together health sciences, technology, business, law and the social sciences, TMU offers a multidisciplinary environment where close to 10,000 students develop specialist knowledge while exploring connections across professional fields. In 2026, the university was awarded an overall rating of 4 QS Stars.

Ten faculties make up TMU's academic core: in Bucharest, Law, Informatics, Medicine, Dental Medicine, Psychology, Pharmacy, Economic Sciences, and Education Sciences, Communication and International Relations; and in Targu Jiu, Law and Economic Sciences, and Nursing. These faculties offer undergraduate and master's education, with doctoral programmes in Medicine, Dental Medicine and Law. For international students, English-taught options include Medicine and Dental Medicine, as well as a newly introduced bachelor's programme in Artificial Intelligence. A Romanian language preparatory year opens a pathway into Romanian-taught programmes, while postgraduate options extend into Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity, linking advanced computing knowledge with applications in different sectors.

Theory and practice run side by side in TMU's programmes: depending on their field, students train in clinics, laboratories, workshops and applied research projects, building both technical expertise and the ability to analyse problems, communicate ideas and collaborate with others. This spectrum of medical, technological and social disciplines gives TMU's students a genuinely interdisciplinary setting, where questions rarely stay within a single profession, from how digital technology is reshaping healthcare, to how innovation changes organisations, to how professional decisions ripple out to individuals and society.

Through Erasmus+ and partnerships with institutions throughout Europe, TMU supports international study, training and academic exchange, and its campus reflects that outlook directly: students represent more than 50 nationalities, encountering different approaches to learning and building connections beyond their home university. TMU is also a member of the Q-Helix European University Alliance, awarded the Seal of Excellence by the European Commission for the quality of its joint educational strategy; alliance activities, including international thematic schools, bring students and academics together across disciplines and countries, adding practical learning, discussion and intercultural exchange to degree studies.

University life extends beyond lectures and examinations. TMU offers student accommodation, dining and sports facilities alongside dedicated career counselling, and the results show: around 95% of surveyed graduates report employment aligned with their field of study. Student associations, volunteering and international activities let students develop their interests, take initiative and become part of the wider university community.
