About SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, XJUFE

The School of Business Administration (MBA School) at Xinjiang University of Finance and Economics has a long and distinguished history. Its origins can be traced back to 1959 with the establishment of the Department of Industrial Economics at the former Xinjiang Institute of Finance and Economics. In 1999, it was renamed the Department of Business Administration, and in 2007 it evolved into the School of Business Administration. In 2022, following the integration with the MBA School, it assumed its current title as the School of Business Administration (MBA School), XJUFE. This long developmental journey reflects the School’s commitment to advancing business education and research in the region.

The School is structured around several academic departments and research centers. It comprises the Department of Innovation and Strategic Management, the Department of Marketing and Business Analytics, the Department of Organization and Human Resource Management, and the Department of Operations and Supply Chain Management. In addition, it houses the MBA Education Center, the Innovation and Practice Teaching Center, and the Silk Road Management Case Study Center. The School offers four undergraduate majors—Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics Management, and Human Resource Management—among which Business Administration, Marketing, and Logistics Management have been recognized as national-level “First-Class Undergraduate Programs.” At the postgraduate level, the School has two academic master’s degree programs in Enterprise Management and in Technology Economics and Management, two professional master’s degree programs in MBA and EMBA, as well as two doctoral programs in Enterprise Management and Technology Economics and Management.

As a pioneer in professional business education in the region, the School was authorized in 2000 to award master’s degrees in Enterprise Management and in the MBA program, becoming the very first institution in Xinjiang to train MBA graduates. In 2009, it further distinguished itself as the only institution in Xinjiang approved to enroll and train EMBA candidates, a role it continues to hold today. In 2010, the School was approved to grant master’s degrees in the first-level discipline of Business Administration, and in 2024 it was elevated to the highest level of academic authority with the approval of a doctoral degree program in Business Administration. The discipline of Business Administration has been recognized as a provincial key discipline during the “13th Five-Year Plan” period and as a featured discipline during the “14th Five-Year Plan.” In 2024, it ranked among the top 30 nationwide in the “Best Disciplines in China” ranking by Soft Science.

The School serves over 2,300 undergraduate and postgraduate students and employs a dedicated team of 75 faculty and staff members. Among its faculty are distinguished scholars and educators recognized nationally and provincially. Notable achievements include one recipient of the State Council’s Special Government Allowance and the title of National Model Worker, one recognized as a National Advanced Worker, and several faculty selected into talent programs such as the Ministry of Education’s “New Century Excellent Talents Program” and Xinjiang’s “Tianshan Talents” initiative. Others have been honored in national and regional teaching, innovation, and professional excellence awards. This collective expertise ensures students receive both rigorous academic training and guidance shaped by practical experience and professional recognition.

The School of Business Administration is deeply committed to fostering a distinctive academic culture. Guided by its motto, “Virtue Shapes the World, Wisdom Drives Business,” the School’s mission is to advance research in business studies, cultivate leaders for the business community, and promote the values of commercial civilization. It pursues this mission through an integrated approach that emphasizes the “Four Fusions”: combining Party-building with academic development, ideological education with professional training, theory with practice, and scientific research with teaching. Through initiatives such as the “Silk Road Business Studies,” “Digital and Intelligent Business Studies,” and “Innovative Business Studies,” the School seeks to establish itself as a business school of national influence with a strong regional footprint across Central Asia.

With its strong academic programs, highly qualified faculty, and distinctive cultural vision, the School of Business Administration (MBA School) at XJUFE is striving to become a leading institution in China’s business education landscape, while also contributing significantly to the economic and social development of Xinjiang and the broader Silk Road region.
