October 6 University ( O6U )

 October 6 University (O6U) is the first and largest private University in Egypt.

It was ranked by QS among the top 100 Universities in the Arab region in 2016.

The total area of University campus is 170,000 m2 with more than 70 % of its land is gardens and landscapes. It has an outdoor and indoor educational museum, tennis and football courts, male and female hostels.

O6U has a large library over 9000 m2, which comprises > 100 international databases available through the Egyptian Knowledge Bank.

O6U has 13 faculties including medical sciences, engineering and humanities. The number of students in 2019 is about 24,000 and its total alumni so far is 48,275.

It has a Teaching University Hospital offers medical services to the public, part of it is free of charge. It offers training for students and residents in its five health related colleges. Its orthopaedic Dept. has been recognized as a training center by CAOS international society, the American college of surgeons and the Swiss AO Foundation. Also it has educational and research agreement with Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA.

The University holds an employment fair on an annual basis. Our students has earned second position in Enactus World Cup in San Jose, California in 201,  won a competition on robotics technology in Madrid, Spain in 2018 and Minesweepers in 2018 (first position). 

O6U has been represented at many international conferences in Europe and the US and it has its own international conference in arthroplasty for 13 years and had > 120 guest speakers worldwide. Some of our medical staff has several hundred published papers and > 1000 citations. One of our staff has 18 patents with several awards international awards e.g. Geneva inventions, UK alumni, ISTA, IFIA and SICOT, SAMA   

O6U has several agreements with regional and international Universities, like the University of Fontys in Netherlands and Chung Chou University of Science and Technology. The University is a member of the association of Arab Universities, the Association of African Universities and a member of the United Nations initiative (UN global compact).
