North South University

North South University (NSU), the first private university in Bangladesh, established in 1992 by the visionary Board members of the North South Foundation. The dream during its inception was to set up a world-class university as a center of excellence in higher education. Today, NSU has evolved into an educational behemoth in the region, with over 20,000 undergraduate and graduate students.

NSU is organized into four schools (School of Business and Economics, School of Engineering and Physical Sciences, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Health and Life Sciences); offering 23 undergraduate programs, and 16 graduate programs.

Facilities 

Founded on 5.5 acres of beautifully landscaped area, NSU’s vibrant campus has the state-of-the-art facilities and stands out as an eminent university campus in Dhaka. The 1.2 million sq. ft. floor space contains more than 100 class rooms, lecture theaters and exam halls equipped with latest teaching aids. It has WiFi access across campus and a fully automated library.

The average cost of attending NSU as a student is also at par with other private universities in Bangladesh. And the estimated cost for an undergraduate student is around $1800-3000 per academic year. Moreover students also have the opportunity to utilize financial aid in the form of academic scholarships, tuition waiver, study loans, and student employment.

Graduate Employability

NSU proudly boasts its graduate employment rate to be over 95%. The alumni of NSU are spread across the globe, and have managed to excel and reach top positions. With their significant accomplishment, they have upheld the reputation of NSU, both nationally and internationally. Consequently, the reputable brand set by the high achieving alumni enables NSU graduates to secure employment in their desired field.

With over 3000 graduates every year, the Career Placement Center at NSU is dedicated to work with students, preparing them with necessary skills to enter the job market. Direct liaison with industry also helps with tailoring course curriculum for students to ensure the graduates meet industrial standards.

Research

NSU is at the forefront of various research work, with autonomous cells and projects in fields of Public Health, Environment Sciences and Public Policy. NASA has been a significant partner in the sphere of research and have funded projects and research works related to robotics.

Faculty members at NSU are also very research active and regularly publish their work in high impact journals, books and present in conferences both nationally and international; increasing the recognition and exposure of the institution.

International Recognition

A significant proportion of NSU graduates pursue higher education abroad, and is successful in graduating with an applaud-able track record. This also enables an easier application process for outgoing NSU graduates applying for higher education abroad. The credits obtained at NSU are also accepted in most of the respectable universities of the USA,
Canada, Australia and others.

Additionally, NSU has MOUs with universities, institutions and companies across North America, Europe and Asia for the purpose of student and staff exchange program, collaboration on research, symposium, conferences etc.
