Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU)
is a public higher education institution, founded by the Agreement "On the establishment of the
Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University in the capital of Kyrgyzstan - Bishkek"
signed by the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the
Republic of Turkey on September 30, 1995, in Izmir, Turkey.
The first classes in Turkology,
History, Management, and Computer Engineering started in the 1997-1998 academic
year with 86 students and 38 professors. In the 2021-2022 academic year, 5874
students were enrolled in 11 faculties (Humanities, Sciences, Economics and
Management, Theology, Communications, Engineering, Veterinary Medicine,
Agriculture, Sport, Tourizm and Arts), 2 Institutes, Foreign Languages Higher
School and School of Vocational Education. The number of teachers has also increased -
531 faculty and staff members and 308 administrative personnel working in
management, finance, and upkeep of the university. Nowadays, KTMU is equipped
with a modern and contemporary education system and is the first campus university in Central Asia located in the
capital city of the Kyrgyz Republic, Bishkek.
The aim of our university is not
only to educate youth, but also to help them to become conscious,
self-sufficient, responsible individuals. Our university has adopted the motto
of carrying the cooperation in the fields of language, science, history,
literature, culture, art, economy and sports to the highest levels by producing
humanitarian values.
Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University
is an international university with a multicultural population of students from
16 different countries and 23 different nationalities. This environment gives
opportunity for cultural diversity and richness.
Currently, there are 92 programs,
of which 10 (9.2%) are professional preparatory programs, 41 (37.72%) are
undergraduate programs, 27 (24.84%) are graduate programs, and 14 (12.88%) are
doctorate programs. All programs meet the requirements set by the Bologna
Process. Students graduate with two diplomas that are officially recognized in
Kyrgyzstan and in Turkey, as well as in other countries. KTMU is one of the
leading universities in Central Asia based on the strength of its academic
programs and research work, as well as its work with the broader community.
Education is free of charge for
all levels; successful students are awarded a scholarship, and the best
students are awarded an honor scholarship for academic performance. In
addition, university provides teaching aids, student dormitories, and 3 time
meal at discounted prices to students. The official languages of instruction
are Kyrgyz and Turkish, and in some departments up to 30% of courses are in English.
Additionally, students have a chance to take Russian, English and Chinese classes
as a foreign language during their university education and have opportunities
to enrich their speaking practice and thus, they have a chance to be ahead of
our competitors by learning the most widely spoken languages in the world.
The University`s educational and
recreational facilities and academic staff, as well as its impressive array of
resources and opportunities, the quality of its faculty staff and research
institutes, all contribute to establish a lifelong learning environment where
students can learn and challenge themselves as they have an opportunities to contact
people, cultures and ideas from all over the world.
KTMU has many ongoing projects in
the framework of EU Programmes, Scientific Research Projects with international
partner universities and capacity building projects. University has an active
students and teaching staff exchange within Erasmus, Mevlana and Orhun Exchange
Programs, as well as internal mobility programs within the Kyrgyz Republic.

is a full-fledged university equipped with all necessary laboratories and
facilities for conducting research and education. There 85 laboratories, workshops
and studios for scientific research and practical work. L ibraries and reading rooms of the
university are available 24 hours, seven days a week.
One of the main goals of our
University is to become an “Internationally Reputable, Productive and
Recognized University” contributing to the Turkic World and civilization; to be
a modern, pioneering, entrepreneurial, innovative, leading and the most
preferred university in its geography, open to change and development.
Contribution to the productivity in economy based on the sources and trained
human resources of Kyrgyzstan is also among the principal objectives of the
