About Ifugao State University

Ifugao State University (IFSU) is a premier higher education institution nestled in the scenic mountains of the Province of Ifugao, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) Site. With six campuses strategically located across the province - Lamut (Main), Potia, Lagawe, Hapao, Aguinaldo, and Tinoc - IFSU stands as a leading center of academic excellence, cultural preservation, and sustainable development in the Cordillera region.

Tracing its roots to the Nayon Settlement Farm School in 1920, IFSU evolved through several transformations - from the Pilot Opportunity School of Agriculture (POSA), Payon Bugan Pilot Opportunity School of Agriculture (PBPOSA), Ifugao Agricultural and Technical College (IATC), to the Ifugao State College of Agriculture and Forestry (ISCAF). It achieved university status in 2009 through Republic Act No. 9720 under the leadership of its first president, Dr. Serafin L. Ngohayon. In 2018, Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon became its second and first woman president, steering the University toward global recognition and innovation.

Guided by its vision to be a globally recognized university upholding excellence amidst rich cultural heritage, IFSU is committed to producing employable graduates who are morally upright, socially and culturally responsible professionals. Its mission is anchored on four core thrusts: Instruction, Research, Extension, and Resource Generation.

The University upholds quality and excellence through continuous accreditation of its academic programs and external quality assurance. It maintains a strong focus on student success, achieving a high passing rate in licensure examinations and offering extensive support services to ensure student well-being. Beyond academics, IFSU promotes extracurricular and cultural engagement to develop well-rounded individuals who embody leadership, integrity, and social responsibility.

As an institution deeply rooted in heritage yet forward-looking, IFSU integrates Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices (IKSP) into its curricula, research, and extension programs. It also embraces internationalization through academic exchanges, foreign faculty collaborations, and global partnerships. Its efforts have been recognized with several distinctions, including ISO Certification, the Philippine Quality Award, the PRIME-HRM Bronze Award, and global recognition in the World University Rankings for Innovation, UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, and Times Higher Education Impact Rankings.
