Established in 1979, Hanoi Law University (HLU) has grown alongside the development of legal education in Vietnam. Over more than four decades, HLU has become one of Vietnam’s leading institutions for legal education, playing a pioneering and leading role in the field. The University has educated generations of legal professionals and experts who now work across the country in legislative, executive and judicial bodies, legal practice, businesses, educational institutions and research organisations.

At the heart of HLU is its commitment to educating highly qualified legal professionals, advancing legal research and contributing knowledge to society. Teaching and research at the University are closely connected with legal practice and the realities of the legal profession, contributing to the development and improvement of Vietnam’s legal system, the advancement of the rule of law, and the country’s international integration. HLU has two main campus locations, one in Hanoi, the capital and the political and administrative centre of Vietnam and the other in Bac Ninh. The University also extends its educational presence to Vietnam’s Central Highlands through its branch campus in Dak Lak. Together, these campuses provide modern facilities and learning spaces for teaching, research and student activities..
