About Anglia Ruskin University

ARU is proud to be the Times Higher Education (THE) University of the Year 2023 and the university to nurture your academic curiosities, discover your strengths and find your future. We provide an active, applied education that will empower you to magnify your confidence and gain the knowledge, skills and experience that employers demand. ARU offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses with start dates in January, May and September – giving you flexibility to join throughout the year – as well as providing part-time options, degree apprenticeships and accelerated 2-year courses.

You’ll find our campuses in four exciting cities – Cambridge, Chelmsford, Peterborough and Writtle – all of which have their own unique charm, style and beauty. Our partnership with ARU London also gives you the opportunity to study for an ARU-validated degree in the bustling capital city.

ARU's Writtle campus is one of the leading providers in a range of Equine, Veterinary Physiotherapy, Animal Science and Management, Canine, and Sports Science courses, with a history that dates back 130 years. The campus sits on a stunning 150-hectare estate with landscaped gardens and beautiful scenery, just two miles from Chelmsford, and offers a wide range of specialist teaching facilities.

Courses are created with employability in mind, meaning students can gain a qualification that is relevant to their industry’s needs by getting hands-on experience through practical learning.

In addition to our University of the Year status (THE, 2023), other recent accolades include:

  • receiving University of the Year title at the prestigious UK Social Mobility Awards, in recognition of the role ARU Peterborough is playing in advancing social mobility across the city and the wider region
