The focal point of the Master's degree programme in Urban Design is the context, function and form of the city, and the societal challenges facing the city: climate change, sustainability, welfare, urban growth and urban monp.  The programme focuses on developing knowledge, skills and competencies to identify and work with complex urban issues in an integrated academic perspective that combines architectural, functional, technical and social science aspects. With a master's degree in Urban Design, you will be able to take part in the important interdisciplinary task of creating innovative, sustainable and functional cities that meet the living conditions of the future and create a fertile ground for well-being and development.
At Urban Design, you will work in a practical and theoretical manner with academic issues. You will work extensively with urban, architectural and mobility theory, and develop a strong, broad toolbox with both analogue and digital methods for analysis, design and communication: from sketching and modelling, to citizen involvement and ethnography, and to tracking and simulation technologies.

Aalborg University offers no bachelor’s educations with a legal right of admission to this education.

Bachelors with the following degrees are eligible for admission to the master’s programme in Urban Design (cand.polyt. in urbant design), specializing in either Urban Architecture or Mobilities and Urban Studies:

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Engineering in Architecture and Design with specialisation in Architecture and Urban Design, AAU
  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Architectural Engineering, DTU
  • Bachelor of Engineering (B Eng) in Architectural Engineering, DTU
  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in By-, Energi- og Miljøplanlægning, AAU

All applicants without a legal right must prove that their English language qualifications is equivalent to level B (Danish level) in English

Aalborg University offers interdisciplinary studies where bachelor courses (basic study programmes) are followed by masters and Ph.D. courses (subsequent specialisation). The university offers 10 different undergraduate programmes in English across five faculties:

  • The Faculty of Humanities
  • The Technical Faculty of IT and Design
  • The Faculty of Social Sciences

Each of the five faculties has its own schools with full time bachelor education spanning over three years and designed to prepare students for master and Ph.D. education at a high academic and international level.
