There’s no denying the business landscape looks very different compared to what it did only two decades ago with novel job opportunities emerging every few years.
Whatever your chosen career path, whether it’s in finance, digital strategy, marketing, innovation, or business intelligence, graduate recruiters are looking for people who enjoy working in teams, are comfortable making important decisions, and most importantly – focus on getting the job done well.
If you’ve got your heart set on a career in business but aren’t sure which path is right for you, here’s a breakdown of what’s what to help.
Digital strategy
Ideal career path for those who: have good commercial awareness, enjoy a challenge, are creative thinkers, methodical problem-solvers, good collaborators, well organized, detail-oriented, highly focused, and able to work well under pressure.
Digital strategy is an integral element of any business which wants to succeed. Over the years, the importance of having a robust digital strategy has never been more apparent.
Digital strategists lead projects and manage the execution of original and innovative coordinated campaigns across digital platforms in order to meet objectives that align with the business strategy and effectively build brand awareness.
In order to lead effective campaigns, digital strategists need excellent commercial awareness and sense of current market trends to understand the importance of when, where and how when it comes to the effective execution of such strategies. Doing so also helps to identify challenges and opportunity gaps for the business.
In January 2021, EGADE Business School in Mexico will be welcoming its first cohort intake for the Graduate Degree in Digital Strategy, and Master in Business Analytics. These programs are ideal for those who want to stand out from the crowd in the fast-moving, dynamic, disruptive and highly competitive business landscape.

It should be noted that particular roles and responsibilities will vary depending on which area of finance you work in.
Generally speaking, those who work in finance will be concerned with the management of funds and capital within a corporate, personal or public setting. You will advise clients or colleagues on adhering to established guidelines and government regulations, while reviewing historic and present financial operations to help maximize future profits and save capital.
Between 2018 and 2018, it’s expected that almost 600,000 new jobs in business and financial operations will be generated, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
More lucrative career options generally require specialized qualifications, such as a Master of Finance, while on-the-job training is also common place in many large companies.
