The business analytics rankings are based on a methodology which assesses each institution’s employability, alumni outcomes, value for money, thought leadership and diversity, with data collected from a global survey of employers and other sources.

A brand-new entry this year, McGill’s Desautels Faculty of Management enters the business master’s rankings in 10th place for its Master of Management in Analytics (MMA) course. The program places a strong emphasis on experimental learning and focuses on three main pillars of analytics: statistics, technology and business strategy to prepare its students for their future career in business.
The course scores exceptionally well in the alumni outcomes and employability indicators. The school’s excellent career center is designed to help students develop their career management skills through innovative programs, workshops and a speaker series.
9. Alliance Manchester Business School - MSc Business Analytics
Location: Manchester, UK
Ranked ninth this year for its MSc Business Analytics degree, the University of Manchester’s Alliance Manchester Business School is one of the oldest business schools in the UK, UK established in 1956. Alliance Manchester receives high scores for diversity and alumni, with its students graduating with analytical skills and knowledge ideal for a large variety of careers.
The school’s MSc Business Analytics degree teaches students practical skills to overcome the challenges facing industry, business and the public sector today. There are a wide range of optional modules on offer, which allow students to tailor the degree to their interests and career goals.
8. ESADE - MSc in Business Analytics
Location: Barcelona, Spain
Another high-rated institution for its master’s in business analytics degree, ESADE Ramon Llull University is ranked eighth in the world for its MSc in Business Analytics course and earns high scores for the employability indicator and the alumni outcomes indicator. This is at least partly due to ESADE’s strong connections with leading companies.
Students will have the opportunity to connect directly with leading data scientist employers around the world such as Amazon, Microsoft, Santander and Telefónica. They can also gain expertise in programming languages and take part in an optional three to six-month internship, which further enhances their employability.
7. USC Marshall School of Business - Master of Science in Business Analytics
Location: Los Angeles, US
Over in California, the University of Southern California (USC)’s Marshall School of Business places seventh this year in the Masters in Business Analytics rankings, dropping one place this year. USC Marshall achieves a near-perfect score in the alumni outcomes indicator, with many of its graduates working at large international companies, such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Airbnb.
The school’s Master of Science (MSc) in Business Analytics is an 18-month, comprehensive program which emphasises project-based learning. The program encourages students to explore real-world business challenges and problems in a range of different business areas.
6. University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business - Master of Science in Business Analytics
Location: Austin, Texas, US
The University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business is ranked sixth for its Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) degree, falling two places this year.
The course receives the highest score in the top 10 for the value for money indicator, which shows that graduates are seeing a good return on their investment from this master’s degree. McCombs offers students support and recruitment from industry leaders such as Walmart and Deloitte Consulting, a STEM certification, networking opportunities and industry connections, and lots of support in finding employment upon graduating, contributing to its high score in the employability indicator.
5. Imperial College Business School – MSc Business Analytics
Location: London, UK
Heading back to the UK, Imperial College Business School maintains its position as fifth in the world for its 12-month MSc in Business Analytics this year. It achieves its best score in the employability indicator, with an impressive 97 percent of the school’s graduates in full time work only three months after graduating.
The course itself is grounded in technical and quantitative training, but electives and projects are sector focussed, giving students the opportunity to tailor the program to their own interests and career aspirations. Imperial has now launched a two-year online version of the program, which follows the full-time curriculum almost identically.
4. ESCP Business School – MSc in Big Data and Business Analytics
Location: Berlin and Paris
ESCP Business School’s one-year MSc in Big Data and Business Analytics course allows students to study at either its Berlin campus or its Paris campus. At both campuses the course is taught in English.
The MSc course claims that its aim is to understand the significance of data in today’s business world. The course helps students build their technical, analytical and communications skills to help them manage large data sets and drive organisational change. The course earns a perfect score in the value for money indicator this year, which takes into account graduate salaries, cost of living and tuition costs.

3. ESSEC/CentraleSupélec - MSc in Data Sciences & Business Analytics
Location: Paris and Singapore
Two of the most prestigious universities in France, ESSEC Business School and CentraleSupélec, are ranked third in the world for their jointly offered MSc in Data Sciences & Business Analytics program, achieving very high scores for alumni outcomes and employability.
The course takes up to two years to complete and is taught entirely in English. Students can take up to 18 advanced elective courses and can major in one of three major options in period two: Data Sciences and Business Analytics, both in Paris, or Digital Strategy, offered at ESSEC’s Asia-Pacific campus in Singapore. The school encourages ‘learning by doing’ and students will get the opportunity to take part in a four to six-month internship, write a final thesis and go on an international field trip.

Retaining its second-place position this year, UCLA’s Anderson School of Management is a 15-month program which merges theory and principle with the latest business practice. The course is made up of 87 percent international students.

1. MIT Sloan School of Management - Masters of Business Analytics
Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, US
Once again placing first worldwide is MIT’s Sloan School of Management with its 12-month Masters in Business Analytics course. This is hardly surprising given that it earns near-perfect scores across most indicators, with a full score in alumni outcome and thought leadership. The program’s graduates earn an average base salary of US$110,000 and 100 percent find work within six months of graduation.
The degree aims to prepare students to interpret and use the tools of modern data science, optimization and machine learning to solve real-world business problems. During the course, students take part in a seven-month long Analytics Capstone Project, which gives students an opportunity to work on real-life data science problems with industry leaders.
