While scholarships for UK business schools are often competitive, getting one is not impossible and there are plenty of options available to you if you look in the right places.

Li Xiaoming bursary: In honour of alumnus Li Xiaoming who was killed in the Haiti earthquake while serving as a United Nations Peacekeeper, this bursary offers up to £20,000 towards tuition fees. Applicants must be a national of the People’s Republic of China and have applied for a taught master’s course. Applicants will be asked to demonstrate how their degree programme and future career will contribute to society.
Warwick Postgraduate Sanctuary Scholarships: These scholarships are available to refugees. They fund up to four years of study with full payment of academic fees, a maintenance stipend and a one-off research training and support grant of £5,000.
Look at external scholarships and grants
While you should consider internal scholarships, it is also worth looking at external options. For UK business schools, these are incredibly extensive and can be quite overwhelming. However, if you keep looking there is likely to be one that fits you.

Chevening UK government scholarships: Chevening scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and partner organisations, such as the University of Warwick. These scholarships are available to individuals looking to study a one-year master’s programme who have the potential to become future leaders, decision-makers and opinion-formers. Apply here.
Commonwealth scholarships: The UK government offers a range of scholarships to outstanding postgraduate students from countries in the Commonwealth who are looking to study at UK universities. These scholarships are funded by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission. To apply, you will need to be nominated by an agency from your home country, which you can contact here.
The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) scholarships: The ESRC offers scholarships to UK and international students up to the value of £17,668. These scholarships are available to applicants for postgraduate programmes at some of the UK’s top universities. See the full list here.
Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust grants: These scholarships are up to the value of £5,000 per year. The amount you can receive depends on your financial need and the total amount of funding the trust has. Apply early and target your scholarship application
To give yourself the best chance of securing a scholarship, apply early. Scholarships are highly competitive and awarded on an ongoing basis, so the earlier you can apply the better.
Although most scholarships have a separate application form, make your interest known early. When writing your personal statement for your application be clear that you would like to be considered for a scholarship at that school. Show that you’ve taken the time to research the course and demonstrate why this particular programme would be a good fit for you.
