National University of Pharmacy (Kharkiv)

National University of Pharmacy is Ukrainian center of pharmaceutical education and science. The University possesses a leading role in implementation of public policies on scientific developments for knowledge-based pharmaceutical industry and training for all segments of the pharmaceutical industry: pharmacies, pharmaceutical, perfumery and cosmetics enterprises, institutions for medicines quality assurance, and academic personnel.

National University of Pharmacy is educational and scientific complex with a team of about 20,000 students and staff. University consists of more than 40 Departments, Institute of Pharmacy Professionals Qualification Improvement, College, Central Scientific-Research Laboratory, State Scientific-Research Laboratory for Medicinal Substances Quality Control, Clinical-Diagnostic Center with Laboratory of Clinical Diagnostics, and others. 22 scientific schools have founded at the University in the field of chemical synthesis and analysis of bioactive substances, creation of medicines of synthetic and natural origin; nanotoxicology and nanopharmacy; pharmacognostical study of bioactive substances; technology of original and combined medicines in different dosage forms; pharmacological study of bioactive synthetic and natural substances and medicines; creation of homoeopathic medicines; development of new methods for analysis of medicines for operative exposure of the falsified products of pharmacy and industrial production; organization of pharmaceutical business; management and marketing in pharmacy; study of efficient management mechanisms of pharmaceutical enterprises development in terms of international quality standards implementation, etc.

Scientists of the University have created 140 new medicines and substances. Among them such national brands as Levomecol, Levosin, Cratal, Diacamph, Clorophylliptum, etc. National University of Pharmacy is an honorary member of such esteemed international associations as follows: Magna Charta Universitatum, European Association of Faculties of Pharmacy (EAFP), International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP).

Over the years of its existence, National University of Pharmacy has prepared more than 50 thousand specialists, including more than 6,500 Masters of Pharmacy for 93 countries.

The University has developed material and technical facilities of about 105,000 sq.m., including 6 academic buildings and 6 dormitories; modern lecture halls and laboratories, and botanical garden of more than 9,000 sq.m. Student canteens for 700 seats work in each academic building and in two dormitories. The university's sports complex has presented by 7 sports grounds and gyms, 5 tennis courts, 9 specialized sports club. Due to initiative of the University authority the professional holiday “Day of pharmaceutical worker” was established and new state award “Honored pharmacist of Ukraine” was introduced in Ukraine. The V, VI, VII and VIII National Congresses of Pharmacists of Ukraine have been held on the basis of National University of Pharmacy in Kharkiv.

Among 323 higher education institutions of Ukraine, NUPh holds the 50th place (world – 5439).

Among Kharkiv higher education institutions, NUPh  holds the 8th place.

Among the medical institutions of higher education of Ukraine, NUPh takes the 5th place.

TOP-200 UKRAINE

The ranking is composed based on the data of the previous (2015) year. 200 universities were ranked.

This year is the tenth edition of the ranking. Its technique is built in accordance with international principles of the ranking of universities and provides a comparative analysis of achievements of higher education institutions of different types on the basis of some universal criteria.

According to this method, activity of the universities is estimated using aggregate (integral index), which is formed on the basis of indicators of direct measurement (80%), expert assessment of the quality of training of graduates by representatives of employers and academic community (15%), as well using the international scientometric and webometric data (5%). Integral index is represented by three components: quality of scientific and pedagogical potential, quality of education, international recognition.

2020

The rating is compiled according to the indicators of the previous (2019) year. 200 universities were estimated. The National University of Pharmacy ranked the 15th  place.

Among Kharkiv higher education institutions , NUPh took  the 4th place. Among the medical establishments of the higher education NUPh took the 1nd place.

University Ranking of Scopus Index

According to the bibliometric database Scopus, in April 2020 NUPh takes the 35d  place out of 177 out of Ukraine, with the number of publications – 1109, the number of citations – 2447 and the H index – 21.

Among Kharkiv higher education institutions NUPh takes the 6th place.

Among medical institutions takes the 8th place.
