Energy facilities are complex technical devices that need constant or periodic management. Management refers to the purposeful impact on objects to ensure their economical and reliable operation. Management involves constant monitoring in operation of intensive and dynamic processes of energy conversion and movements of working media. Such studies should be performed in advance when designing using specially created models, since it is cheaper, safer, faster and more accessible than when testing full-scale objects.
For the qualitative use of large-volume and heterogeneous on the physical basis of operational information in the justification of decisions, appropriate algorithms are necessary, which should be based on correct mathematical models. Such models should be developed in advance, and regularly adjusted during use based on constantly changing operating conditions. Therefore, the training of young specialists should include the study of the basic principles of creating mathematical models using modern information technology methods, methods for improving them and, most importantly, techniques for using the created models in everyday activities.
The quality of created mathematical models is largely determined by the environment in which they are developed. Modern mathematical packages for personal computers reduce the time to create models, simplify the assessment of their quality, and make it possible to perform research to check the technical condition of objects using the created models.
Our approach involves both covering the main skills of the MCM specialty, and through the possibility of elective subjects covering the necessary elements of training in the direction of ""Engineering mathematics"".
At the same time, the student is left with the option of taking additional subjects at his discretion as free electives (free electives) -these can be subjects from any specialty.
Meetings conducted by the marketing service of IITU and analysis of surveys conducted among graduates of NIS, physics and mathematics schools showed that about 10 percent of graduates seriously think about professions related to energy and environmental processes and their modelling.
