The University of Lincoln International Study Centre also runs university preparation courses for international students who do not otherwise meet the direct entry requirements for an undergraduate degree course. Students can apply for an International Foundation Year or International Year One course, depending on their English Language and academic level, for several of Lincoln’s undergraduate programmes. Upon successful completion, students can progress to degree level study. The ISC’s university preparation courses are provided by Study Group in collaboration with the University of Lincoln.

Outside of academic studies, the International Student Association is part of the University Students’ Union and organises social events and activities throughout the year for international students, as well as campaigning on matters that affect them.

Career prospects for Lincoln undergraduates are strong, with 96% of Lincoln’s most recent graduates in work or further study six months after finishing their course and more than 80% working in graduate level roles [DLHE Survey 2016/17].

Studying at postgraduate level can introduce students to new ideas, up-to-date research, and critical thinking skills.

At the University of Lincoln, we aim to provide excellent facilities, enabling technologies, expert staff, and a research-focused environment that enables postgraduate students from around the world to become part of a vibrant and diverse academic community. We have cultivated strong partnerships with employers, and our unique relationships with companies such as Siemens demonstrate our innovative industry-engaged approach.

Postgraduate students at the University of Lincoln have the opportunity to develop advanced specialist knowledge of a particular subject with a wide range of postgraduate taught and research degrees available, including PhD opportunities and funded PhD studentships.

Throughout their studies, they are supported by the University’s Doctoral School, a dedicated department which provides tailored services and bespoke events for postgraduates.

Teaching staff are actively engaged in research within their respective disciplines and our ‘Student as Producer’ ethos underpins our curriculum, with staff and students at all levels encouraged to collaborate on real research challenges. Our goal is to pursue the highest standards of research excellence with talented academics and students attracted from across the globe.

The quality and breadth of research at the University of Lincoln was highlighted in the Research Excellence Framework 2014, where more than half of the University’s submitted research was rated as internationally excellent or world leading (3* or 4*) with particular strengths in health-related disciplines.

Lincoln is home to a range of specialist research centres and institutes, including the Lincoln Institute for Health and the Lincoln Institute for Agri-food Technology, which are a fulcrum for research opportunities where postgraduate students can work alongside expert academic staff.

Recent investments in facilities include the £28 million Isaac Newton Building, home to engineering, computer science, mathematics and physics subjects; and the Joseph Banks Laboratories, where life sciences, pharmacy and chemistry staff and students work together. The University’s new £19 million Sarah Swift Building houses resources for health and social care and nursing courses. The University’s National Centre for Food Manufacturing is a dedicated training, education and research facility serving the UK’s £110 billion food and drink industry, which connects with a variety of national and international companies.
