This course is undergoing a review over the next year which may mean a change to the course title and units of study. Professional pharmaceutical chemists play an important role in the drug discovery industry. As well as a firm grounding in general chemistry, research methods and laboratory techniques, this course enables you to gain the necessary skills and knowledge in drug testing, drug efficacy, computer-based drug design and the quality control of pharmaceuticals. You will benefit from recently refurbished state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and analytical equipment and from learning in a research-active environment. This degree is professionally accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry. Features and benefits of the course: ? If you opt for the four year sandwich route you can spend your third year on placement in industry. If you opt for the four year study abroad route, you can spend your third year at a University in Europe, North America or Australia. ? You will study a curriculum designed in conjuction with industry to equip you with the range of skills and strengths that employers demand. ? 94% of Chemistry graduates go straight into employment and/or further study according to the DHLE survey 2014 for all respondents available for employment or further study and whose destinations are known. ? 90% of students are satisfied with the School of Science and the Environment (From 261 (70%) students who responded to the 2015 National Student Survey). ? We recently invested half a million pounds in upgrading our synthetic chemistry and materials laboratories, including the installation of an X-ray diffractometer which analyses the crystal structure of materials at the atomic level. Our laboratories are state-of-the-art and will give you first hand experience of a wide variety of manual and instrumental lab skills and techniques. ? This course provides an in-depth training in pharmaceutical and analytical chemistry.

GCSE grade C/4 in English Language or Level 2 Functional Skills English and GCSE grade C/4 in Mathematics or Level 2 Functional Skills Mathematics and GCSE grade C/4 in Science or BTEC Level 2 in Applied Science with grade merit
