Podcasts are more popular than ever at the moment – perhaps it’s because they fit perfectly into our increasingly busy lives, or perhaps it’s just because they teach us small but interesting bits of information (which we’re always sure to slip into a conversation later on…)
With podcasts available on almost every topic, we get the opportunity to delve deep into any subject that catches our interest. Why not take the opportunity to enhance the knowledge needed for your marketing degree? Also, podcasts are sure to be a big deal in the future of marketing, so it doesn’t hurt to get on board now!
Below we have devised a list of seven of the best podcasts out there to listen to if you’re a marketing student! Read on to find your new obsession…
Marketing over Coffee
In Marketing over Coffee, the hosts, John J. Wall and Christopher S. Penn, discuss everything marketing over a cup of coffee. They cover a diverse range of topics, which will help you stay up to date with the latest marketing trends and developments within social media and keep up with innovations in SEO and search marketing. They also discuss more ‘old school’ offline marketing campaigns, as well as email marketing, multivariate testing and copywriting.
Each podcast is 20 minutes long and episodes are available to stream on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts and Spotify.
Youth Trends by Voxburner
Youth Trends is the new podcast by Voxburner, the firm who run the world’s largest youth marketing festival, putting young people in touch with top marketing professionals. In their podcast, they feature guests from their large network of marketing experts, including representatives from Buzzfeed, Starbucks, Hollister, Haagen-Daz and American Eagle to discuss marketing for the Millennial and Gen Z market.
Podcasts are 10 to 30 minutes long and are released weekly; available to stream on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts.
Crazy/Genius by the Atlantic
Crazy/Genius is a series hosted by the Atlantic’s Derek Thompson, discussing trends in technology, science and culture, and answering the controversial questions you never knew you wanted answering! Although this podcast is not solely about marketing, it is a useful podcast for marketing students to listen to, as it gives a good insight into what is popular and on trend.
Podcasts are released frequently, and last around 30 minutes. They are available to listen to on Spotify, Stitcher, Apple Podcasts and Google Music.
Social Pros
One of the most popular marketing podcasts in the world, Social Pros give an insight on how real people are working in social media to further their careers. Social Pros gives inside stories and behind the scenes secrets about how companies like Ford, Dell, IBM and ESPN use social media in their marketing campaigns to draw awareness. This is a great podcast for marketing students as it keeps you up to date with trends in social media, debunks popular marketing myths and gives advice from leading social media strategists.
