The state-recognised SRH Fernhochschule – The Distance Learning University specialises in online study options that accommodate working professionals. Our innovative online campus (E-Campus) serves as the hub for your studies, allowing you to succeed wherever and whenever it suits you, while managing work, training, family, or athletic commitments simultaneously.
Our university offers a selection of 51 online Bachelor's and Master's programmes as well as over 60 university certificates. Optional face-to-face classes and examinations are available at 21 sites. Currently, more than 9,000 students are enrolled at the largest university in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, which was voted Germany’s most popular distance learning university for the fifth time in 2023.
As a system-accredited university with permanent state recognition awarded by the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, we hold the quality seal of the German Accreditation Council. All degree programmes and certificate courses have received state accreditation.

Every year we award a limited number of international scholarships for prospective students in our English-speaking programmes. Scholarships cover 50 percent of tuition fees for the desired degree programme, i.e. a Bachelor's or Master's degree.

When do you want to start your studies? With us, you decide when it begins. You have the flexibility to start at the beginning of any month. You also have control over the duration and intensity of your studies. Customize it to suit your needs perfectly - from the pace to the content to the exams.
Online Application Portal
Let’s get started: the best way to register with us is to use our online application portal, where all your data will be transmitted confidentially and in encrypted form. Apply online to ensure a prompt and secure submission of your application.

If you prefer not to use our online application portal, simply download the enrolment form from our website whenever it suits you, complete it online, and email it – as a PDF file, together with your documents in the usual formats (JPG, PDF, PNG) – to [email protected]. Incidentally, it is up to you to decide exactly when you want to embark on your studies – we offer different starting dates for our programmes.
We do not have a physical campus because we offer distance learning programmes. Therefore, you are not tied to a physical place. But our headquarters is located in the south of Germany (Riedlingen, Baden Württemberg). Additionally, we will provide you with access to our E-Campus, which ensures immediate access to everything you need, wherever you are.

In our E-campus you can access all learning content, digital tools and online libraries around the clock and worldwide. Thanks to our individual self-study programme, you have the freedom to choose flexibly when you want to work on which modules. In addition, we put you in touch with other students – enabling all of you to benefit from shared expertise.
Communicating face-to-face
We are there for you. No matter what comes up. You are never left alone: Our mentors, coaches and motivators are there to support you. Your student advisor will help you in all organisational matters. Any questions you have concerning your subject will be answered directly by your professors and lecturers. You will always be able to reach your duo of experts – without having to make an appointment or keep to office hours.
Learn more and get ahead – by attending voluntary live sessions online
Are you keen to find out more about a particular subject? Or do you have questions about issues such as scientific work? Then feel free to make use of our voluntary services. You can supplement up to 20% of your studies with voluntary, accompanying live sessions. This way, you will complete 80% of your programme through independent study and 20% by attending live sessions. Or you rely entirely on self-study. It is up to you to decide!

The quickest way to enrol with us is to send your application for one of our distance learning programmes to our online application portal.
If you prefer not to use our online application portal, simply download the application for enrolment from our website, complete it online, and email it – as a PDF file, together with your documents in the usual formats (JPG, PDF, PNG) – to [email protected]
All Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes can be started on the first day of each month. Since the lectures and examinations are repeated continuously, it is possible to start your studies at any time without any problems. Please allow 2 weeks for processing and submit your application for enrolment in good time.
Yes. Basically, you can transfer credits earned in other degree programmes or apart form higher education. You can only transfer credits that are not an admission criterion for your chosen study programme (this is why you cannot transfer credits from your general university entrance qualification, for example).
You can only transfer credits that meet the requirements of the Act on Higher Education (LHG) of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg. Nor can we take into account skills you have gained from your professional experience. We will be happy to check for you which modules we can recognise or transfer, based on your previous expertise – free of charge and with no strings attached. Due to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), study achievements are internationally comparable and recognised. 180 credits are required for successful completion of the Bachelor's programme. For the Master's degree, 60, 90 or 120 credits are required.
If you are a student living abroad, you can apply for an international scholarship. If you are a German student there are several ways to finance your studies such as a scholarship, a student grant (BAföG), an education cheque, educational leave, a study loan or a training loan to help pay for your distance learning programme with us.
