Aside from on-campus lectures and academic study, gaining work experience is one of the best ways to deepen your business acumen during your degree.
Workshops, consulting missions, internships, business cases and guest lecturers are just some of the ways in which you can connect with potential employers and pave a career path for yourself.
Nicolò Bonfanti studied at the TBS Education campus in Barcelona, graduating with an MSc in International Business. Here’s how his school helped him launch his career in business:
Support for aspiring entrepreneurs
The school’s location in the startup hub of Barcelona - the 22@ district, makes it easy for students to take advantage of entrepreneurial opportunities.
Nicolò said: “I took part in the university’s start-up incubator, and developed my start-up idea further, which was a plastic recycling gamification project.”
Barcelona is also well known for being an important international business hub, where students at TBS Education can find work placement opportunities with companies that are prominent in their field of study.
The successful collaboration between TBS Education and the business industry is reflected in its graduate employment rate, where an impressive 97 percent of master’s students find a job within four months of graduating.
Hands on-learning approach
One of the major benefits of studying at TBS Education is the option to undertake a four to six month internship at a top national or international company.
Nicolò chose to apply to Deloitte for his internship. He said: “The most striking feature that motivated me to apply to Deloitte was their value proposition which was to make an impact that matters.
“I have always embraced this motto. I wanted to make sure that the knowledge I gained during my university years and the skills I acquired through my courses would allow me to bring value to Deloitte and the community that surrounds me.”
Interning at Deloitte also meant that he could grow his professional network outside of his degree. “As the company operates in more than 150 countries worldwide, I was able to grow both personally and professionally and expand my international network.”
According to TBS Education, 85 percent of its graduates found their job through the internship placement, highlighting its success in helping students secure employment opportunities.
Learning from business leaders
Before taking on a prestigious internship opportunity, learning from the school’s internationally renowned faculty helped Nicolò gain a holistic understanding of international business.
He said: “One of the main reasons I decided to study at TBS Education was because of the academic teaching faculty, composed of highly experienced international managers and professors in topics that interest me.”
Not only that, when students aren’t in classes or interning at a top international company, they also have access to subject experts who can provide first-hand guidance on the latest trends in the business industry.
Nicolò’s internship at Deloitte, along with other employment initiatives he participated in during his time at TBS Education mean he’s confident about making his next career move.
While Nicolò studied International business, TBS offers six other master’s degree options, such as the master’s in marketing and master’s in sustainable finance. All courses are taught in English, with a focus on giving students the practical experience that boosts their employability.
