In 2015, Mainz University together with
the universities in Frankfurt and Darmstadt founded the RHINE-MAIN UNIVERSITIES
(RMU) alliance. The three universities have a combined total of more than
95,000 students and 1,500 professors and cooperate closely in research,
learning, and teaching. As renowned research universities, the RMU shape the
Frankfurt-Rhine-Main region as an internationally visible academic hub. Through
coordination and close cooperation, the RMU promote improvements in research,
teaching, knowledge exchange, and administration.
